K-Fed Ad Has Restaurants Fed Up
Restaurant Industry Says New Ad Starring K-Fed Is an Insult
COLUMBUS, Jan. 24, 2007 (AP) - - Nationwide's latest "Life Comes at You Fast" ad has the restaurant industry saying, "Wait just a minute."
The commercial the Columbus insurance company plans to run during the Super Bowl stars Kevin Federline, the aspiring rapper being divorced by Britney Spears. In the ad, Federline daydreams about making a flashy video -- while cooking french fries at a fast-food place.
The National Restaurant Association says the ad is an insult and has sent Nationwide a letter complaining that the implication is that working in a restaurant is demeaning and unpleasant. Nationwide's advertising chief doesn't see it that way and says there was no intent to make fun of anyone, except maybe K-Fed.
